Be Empowered Consulting exists to help organizations improve performance and people experience by strengthening how decisions are made—where work actually happens.

La Toya McClellan

Founder and Principal

La Toya McClellan has spent 15+ years leading employee engagement, leadership development, and HR business partner functions in complex global organizations across pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods, and higher education sectors.

She previously served as Global Head of Engagement and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Astellas Pharma, where she was responsible for designing and leading enterprise-wide strategies that drove meaningful employee experience across the U.S., EMEA, and APAC regions.

Prior to Astellas, La Toya spent eight years at Brown-Forman Corporation, advancing through roles including Senior HR Business Partner and Manager of Engagement and Diversity. In these positions, she led high-stakes people initiatives including major reorganizations, leadership transitions, and large-scale engagement improvement efforts requiring clear decision frameworks for managers operating under pressure.

La Toya's expertise is rooted in practical experience: translating engagement and people data into actionable clarity for managers, building decision support frameworks that hold under organizational complexity, and ensuring HR strategy drives real performance outcomes.

She holds a Master's degree in Psychology with a concentration in Diversity Management and is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR). She maintains certifications in multiple assessment and decision-support methodologies.
